Ridgewill Testing Terms
Key points
This summary is for convenience. The full Testing Terms below are what count.
- Test versions are unfinished. They may have bugs, change without notice, or never be released.
- They run on our real systems, with your real data. Our privacy policies apply, and section 6 explains the extra diagnostic and usage information Test Versions record. Where these Testing Terms and a privacy policy differ about Testing, these Testing Terms control, but they never reduce your legal rights or the protections for members under 18. Invitations and messages you send reach real people, unless the app tells you that feature is turned off in the Test Version.
- Expect Testing data to be changed or deleted, at any time and without notice.
- Keep Test Versions to yourself until we release them or say you may share.
- Test Versions record diagnostic and usage information, to fix problems and to understand how they are used.
- Free access to paid features during testing never turns into a paid subscription on its own.
- You can stop testing at any time.
1. About these Testing Terms
These Testing Terms are an agreement between you and Ridgewill LLC, an Alabama limited liability company ("Ridgewill", "we", "us"), about testing Ridgewill apps and features before they are released.
The Ridgewill Terms of Service also apply, and these Testing Terms are part of them. Words defined in the Ridgewill Terms mean the same here. The terms of each app you test also apply to that app. If these Testing Terms conflict with the Ridgewill Terms or an app's terms, these Testing Terms control for Test Versions, except that section 19 of the Ridgewill Terms (Disputes) always controls.
You accept these Testing Terms by checking the box or tapping the button that says you agree, which we show you before you first use a Test Version. Using a Test Version after that confirms your agreement. Your acceptance covers every Test Version we give you access to, now or later, in any app. If you do not agree, do not use Test Versions.
Our privacy policies. The Ridgewill Privacy Policy and the privacy policy of each app you test also apply to Testing. They explain that Test Versions collect more than released versions, as section 6 describes. If these Testing Terms and a privacy policy differ about information from Test Versions, these Testing Terms control for that information. They never reduce:
- any right you have under the law, including your rights to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your information, to opt out, and to appeal our decision;
- the protections our privacy policies give members under 18; or
- our promises that we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, never sell location information, and never give personal information to other companies to train their AI models.
Where the law or our privacy policies require your separate permission, such as for your phone's location or for detailed diagnostics, we ask for it separately. Accepting these Testing Terms is not that permission.
2. What counts as a Test Version
A "Test Version" is any Ridgewill app, feature, build or service that we make available to you before it is generally available, or that we describe as alpha, beta, preview, early access, test or something similar. It includes:
- a Ridgewill app that is not yet released to the public, including any app we create in the future;
- a test build of a released app;
- a test feature inside a released app, or inside your Ridgewill account; and
- any way we give you access, such as Apple's TestFlight, a Google Play testing track, a link, an invitation, or a setting in an app or in your account.
A Test Version stops being one when we make it generally available to the public, for example in the public listing of an app store. "Testing" means using a Test Version.
3. Joining and taking part
- By invitation. Testing is open only to people we invite. We decide who may test, which Test Versions they may use, and for how long. Being invited once does not give you a right to test anything else, or to keep testing.
- The same age rules. The age and eligibility rules in section 2 of the Ridgewill Terms apply to Testing, along with any higher minimum age an app's terms set.
- Testers under 18. If you are under 18, you may test only if your parent or legal guardian has also accepted these Testing Terms in their own name and on your behalf.
- Your invitation is personal. Do not share invitation links, codes or test builds with anyone else, and do not let anyone else use a Test Version through your account.
4. What to expect from a Test Version
Test Versions are unfinished. They may have bugs, be slow or unavailable, behave differently from the released version, or stop working. In particular:
- Features may change, be removed, or never be released. We are not committing to release any Test Version, or to release it in the form you tested.
- We may ask you to update to a newer version before a Test Version will keep working, and we may end a Test Version at any time.
- We do not promise any level of availability, performance or support for Test Versions. We welcome your questions at support@ridgewill.com and will help where we can.
5. Real systems and your real data
- Test Versions use our live systems. Information you add while Testing is real and is handled under our Privacy Policy and each app's privacy policy, together with section 6 of these Testing Terms.
- What you do reaches real people. Invitations, messages, notifications and records you create in a Test Version are delivered to, and seen by, the real people involved, unless the app tells you that a feature is turned off or does not send in that Test Version.
- Invitations stay inside Testing. In a Test Version, you can invite or share with only people who are also testing it. Invitations to anyone else are not sent.
- Expect Testing data to change or disappear. We may change, reset or delete anything added while Testing, at any time and without notice, and you should expect this as part of Testing. We may also keep it when the app or feature is released, but we do not promise to.
- Keep your own records. Do not rely on a Test Version as your only record of anything that matters to you, such as amounts other members owe you, and do not rely on it where a failure could cause you harm or loss.
6. Diagnostics and usage information
Finding problems is the point of Testing, so Test Versions may record more about how they work, and how you use them, than released versions do. By accepting these Testing Terms, you agree to this recording before you first use a Test Version.
- What we may record. When you use a Test Version, we and the service providers who work for us may record diagnostic and usage information. This includes crash reports and error logs; performance measurements, such as how long a screen takes to load; the app version, your device model, operating system and the settings that affect the app; network errors; and which screens and features you use, in what order, and for how long. We may link this information to your account so we can investigate problems you run into and follow up with you.
- Why. We use it to find, reproduce and fix problems, to keep the Services secure, and to understand how people use the Services, so that we can improve them and decide what to build.
- Detailed diagnostics. We may ask you to turn on detailed diagnostics, for example to look into a problem you reported. Detailed diagnostics can record more, such as step-by-step logs of what the app did and the requests it sent to our servers, and, if we ask and you agree, a recording of the app's screen. We collect detailed diagnostics only after you turn them on in the app. They turn off on their own after 7 days, and you can turn them off at any time. While a screen recording is running, the app shows that it is recording.
- What we do not record. We do not record your passwords, your keystrokes or your precise location as part of diagnostics. Apart from detailed diagnostics you turn on, we do not record the text you type or the photos you add. We design diagnostics to leave out other members' information, and if any is captured by mistake, we delete it when we find it.
- Testers under 18. If you are under 18, we record only the crash and error reports needed to keep the Test Version working, and we do not link them to your name. Detailed diagnostics stay off unless you turn them on yourself.
- How long we keep it. We keep Testing diagnostics, including detailed diagnostics, for up to 90 days, and delete them sooner if the testing they were recorded for ends first. If diagnostics are attached to a support request, we keep them with that request for as long as we keep the request, as our Privacy Policy describes, and after that we may keep them as a record of the problem, with information that identifies you removed.
- Our privacy policies. The Ridgewill Privacy Policy and each app's privacy policy describe this information too, and section 1 explains which document controls where they differ. Stopping Testing stops Testing diagnostics. It does not delete what was already recorded; to do that, delete your account or ask us.
7. Feedback
We want to hear what works and what doesn't. You can send feedback and report problems from inside each app where it offers this, or by email to support@ridgewill.com. Section 10 of the Ridgewill Terms covers how we may use your feedback.
By joining Testing, you agree that we may contact you by email, in the app or by push notification about your feedback, about problems you report, and about Testing generally. If you no longer want to be contacted about Testing, tell us at support@ridgewill.com and we will remove you from Testing. Leaving Testing does not stop the service email described in section 5 of the Ridgewill Terms.
8. Keeping unreleased features private
Do not show, share or describe a Test Version to anyone, including people you know, until we release it or tell you that you may. That includes screenshots, recordings and descriptions, whether posted publicly or shared privately. You may share it only:
- with other testers of the same Test Version;
- with your parent or guardian, if you are under 18, or with the minor you accepted these Testing Terms for; and
- once we have given you permission, or told testers that something may be shared.
This does not apply to information that is already public, or to your own content, and nothing in these Testing Terms stops you from reporting anything to a government authority, getting legal advice, or speaking about any matter the law protects your right to discuss.
The restrictions in section 10 of the Ridgewill Terms apply to Test Versions, including the ban on reverse engineering.
9. Free access and test purchases
- Free access. We may give you paid features of an app free while you test. Free access is not a purchase or a subscription, and it never turns into a paid subscription on its own. It ends on the date we give you or when the app or feature becomes generally available, whichever comes first. It also ends if you stop Testing, or if your account closes. After it ends, you keep using the app's free features, and anything you added stays. To keep the paid features, you would subscribe in the app like anyone else.
- Test purchases. We may set you up to make test purchases through Apple or Google so you can try buying. Test purchases are not charged, may renew very quickly (for example, every few minutes on Google Play), end on their own, and give you no lasting right to paid features.
- Real purchases are real. If you have not been set up for test purchases and you buy a subscription, you are charged, and section 8 of the Ridgewill Terms applies. If you are not sure, ask us before you buy.
10. Apple and Google testing programs
If you test through Apple's TestFlight or a Google Play testing track, that program's terms also apply to how you get and install the Test Version. Apple and Google may collect crash reports and information about how you use the Test Version, and share it with us, under their own terms. Section 6 explains what we do with it, and what we record ourselves. Apple and Google are not responsible for Test Versions or for these Testing Terms.
11. Leaving Testing, or being removed
- You can stop Testing at any time, by uninstalling the Test Version, leaving the testing program in TestFlight or Google Play, or telling us. Stopping Testing does not delete your Ridgewill account or your information. To do that, delete your account as section 12 of the Ridgewill Terms describes.
- We can end your Testing, or any testing program, at any time, for any reason, with or without notice.
- When a Test Version ends, you may need to install the released version of the app from the app store to keep using it.
- What continues. Sections 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 of these Testing Terms continue after your Testing ends, for anything that happened while you were Testing.
12. Disclaimers and limits
TEST VERSIONS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, RIDGEWILL MAKES NO PROMISE THAT ANY TEST VERSION WILL WORK, WILL BE RELEASED, OR WILL KEEP YOUR INFORMATION.
Sections 15 (Disclaimers), 16 (Limitation of liability), 17 (Release), 18 (Indemnity), 19 (Disputes) and 20 (State-specific terms) of the Ridgewill Terms apply to Testing, including their exceptions.
13. Changes to these Testing Terms
We may update these Testing Terms in the way section 14 of the Ridgewill Terms describes. For a material change, we will tell you at least 7 days before it takes effect, and you will need to accept it before you continue Testing. If you do not agree, stop Testing. The version you accepted applies until you do.
